This Guide provides different tools to promote an improvement in social participation and the enlargement of the repertoire of practices to improve dialogues, engagement and co-responsibility, establish links of trust, manage and solve conflicts and jointly find socially and technically acceptable solutions. There is a special focus on the Participatory Geographic Information Systems (PGIS) approach, due to its high potential to attract and engage citizens on a multilevel scale and produce new local knowledge with new analysis and visualization possibilities.
